IR35 Statement – 12 month respite for Interim workers gives employers more options.
In light of the recent decision from House of Lords to delay the roll out of the IR35 reform; Carlyle legal partner – Addleshaw Goddard – commented on the matter: “Just one week after they were given the green light in the Budget, the reform of off-payroll working tax (or IR35) has been postponed until 6 April 2021. This will be some very welcome respite in the face of the upheavals businesses are facing to get ready for this reform. Hopefully during this extra time period tax non-compliance will be reduced and the genuinely self-employed contractors will be recognised more easily. This move is part of a broad package of measures that the Treasury has announced to protect the economy from the coronavirus outbreak.”
