Fiona James-MartinView Bio
Fiona is a Partner at Carlyle and is also Head of our Interim Practice. Working broadly across sectors, Fiona specialises in identifying and attracting the best non-permanent talent for board, executive and senior advisory roles. She has a proven track record within the Accountancy, Finance and Business Change functions and a growing specialism within IT/Technology across a range of senior and specialist roles.
Within Carlyle Fiona is responsible for hosting our programme of Interim events, which focuses on providing a forum for discussion regarding the changes, opportunities and challenges within the senior interim market across the UK.
Fiona has over 15 years’ experience in senior and interim recruitment, including holding leadership and Director roles in other practices.
Carol-Ann SearlesView Bio
Carol-Ann is our Managing Partner, responsible for some of our most valuable long-term relationships and for the high-level operational management of the business.
She has over a decade of senior Search experience placing executive and Board level professionals in leading businesses across the UK. During this period her partnership based approach to Search and ability to understand her client’s business have earned her a noteworthy reputation within her key markets. She has built strong, established networks of senior contacts across her key disciplines, which typically include Finance Directors, MD’s/CEO’s, Sales & Marketing Directors and HR Directors.
A regular presenter of Non-Executive Training for the IoD, Carol-Ann provides advice for those looking to attain executive and non-executive Board level positions. She also co-hosts regular board room lunches with our Legal, Accountancy and Financial Services partners. In addition, she co-manages the Nexus Group, designed to encourage discussion and collaboration between senior women in leadership roles.
Carol-Ann was previously a Director of a successful Employment Law business which was sold to Croner. Prior to that, after qualifying with a BSc as well as with the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD), she held a number of senior HR roles within listed businesses, as well as previously holding Board positions with other businesses.
Duggie CarlyleView Bio
Duggie is the Founding Partner of Carlyle, which was established in 2002 with the intention of offering outstanding service and consistent results, whilst building meaningful and sustainable relationships.
As well as being responsible for the strategic growth of the organisation, Duggie remains an active and passionate Search professional, managing some of Carlyle’s key relationships and heading some of the practice’s highest profile assignments. With an interest and heritage in technology he has an enviable track record and reputation for delivering within CIO, CTO, CMO and the growing Digital market. Additionally, he has run multiple C-suite assignments in the Financial Services industry and enjoys an extensive network across Retail Banking, Insurance, and Life & Pensions.
As part of his interest in entrepreneurial business thinking, Duggie has helped multiple growth organisations form dynamic Boards and develop their Leadership teams. He is an investor and advisor to several fast growth and technology based businesses.
A graduate in Communications, Duggie’s early career was with the then fledging ScottishTelecom, before joining a NASDAQ listed, Boston based software company.
Colin WeirView Bio
Colin has over two decades of success in attracting talent for permanent and interim roles at mid to executive level. He manages clients offering growth and transitional opportunities within Regulatory Risk, CASS, Compliance, Banking, Treasury and Asset Management. He is experienced at attracting and identifying senior executives and domain experts, including specialist teams.
Known for his hands on and personable approach, he values long-term relationships with both candidates and clients, many of whom he has worked with for many years across multiple brands and countries. He has a successful track record with many of the leading Financial Services businesses in the UK, which is reflected in his network of senior decision makers.
Colin has a pedigree and focus in the Risk and Treasury space, and is responsible for the establishment of the Carlyle Risk Forum, which is a forum for debate, discussion and collaboration between senior professionals within the sector.
Colin has dedicated over 20 years to the Search and recruitment sector and has previously held leadership and Director roles in other leading practices.
Sholto HunterView Bio
As a Research Assistant, Sholto is responsible for carrying out key research tailored to each of our client’s needs. He is responsible for undertaking extensive research within our key sectors, collating market intelligence into comprehensive reports and mapping assignments.
Sholto works on assignments within a range of sectors, including financial services, digital and technology, across our Executive Search, Interim and Board & Advisory practices.
Sholto graduated from the University of Aberdeen after studying Business Management and joined Carlyle as an Intern. He then transitioned to the full-time role after an initial 3 months. Sholto is a keen rugby player and plays locally for Heriots.
Samuel MitchellView Bio
Sam is a Research Assistant within Carlyle and provides robust, targeted research to support the delivery of Search services for our clients. He is responsible for undertaking extensive research within our key sectors, collating market intelligence into comprehensive reports and mapping assignments.
Sam works on assignments within a range of sectors, including financial services, digital and technology, across our Executive Search, Interim and Board & Advisory practices.
Sam graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a First Class Honours Degree in Biological Sciences, where he developed a specialism in research. He has a particular interest in the emerging technology sectors.
Meg WhyteView Bio
Meg Whyte is a Client Delivery Manager within Carlyle and supports the team on key assignments across our Executive Search, Senior Interim and Board & Advisory practices. She is responsible for undertaking detailed market mapping and research exercises, and for ensuring the efficient administration of the Search process, including the delivery of regular market intelligence reporting for clients.
Meg works on assignments within a range of sectors, including financial services, digital and technology, assisting on a variety of executive and non-executive roles.
Meg graduated from the University of Cape Town with an Honours Degree in Film and English before beginning her career within marketing. She held marketing positions within the UK and internationally, before joining the firm in a full-time role.
Daniel KellingrayView Bio
Daniel is a Head of Research within Carlyle, responsible for supporting on key assignments, managing candidate and client relationships and running the logistics and administration of Search assignments. Daniel conducts exhaustive marketplace mapping and utilises his keen commercial awareness to ensure excellent levels of service for both clients and candidates across multiple sectors and roles.
Daniel works broadly across assignments with a keen interest in Digital and Technology.
Daniel graduated from Aberdeen University where he undertook policy research work during his studies and developed an interest in, and aptitude for, research projects. He brings a methodical yet creative approach to research that enables us to provide a thorough, rigorous Search offering for our clients.

Aynsley McAuslanView Bio
Aynsley is the Receptionist & Facilities Manager at Carlyle. Acting as the first point of contact for the businesses within the premises and looking after all clients that visit the property.
Aynsley also makes sure the building and contents are kept to a high standard and meet all health and safety regulations, in addition to assisting the team in day to day tasks through coordinating with key contacts and logistics to support service delivery in areas including communications and travel.
Aynsley is an experienced Receptionist and Operations Manager with a strong track record in a variety of organisations.
